August was an absolute whirlwind!! A month full of personal milestones, tech upgrades, travel and just a touch of chaos (thanks to the school holidays). If you’re juggling business growth, family life and everything in between – this one’s for you.
Here’s the full lowdown on what happened inside the business – and outside of it – during August 2024 👇
❤️ Carrie-Ann’s health update: on the mend and back in action
First and foremost – thank you for all your messages and support. Carrie-Ann has made brilliant progress after her surgery and is finally back on her feet. It’s been a challenging time, but having her up and about again has lifted all of us, both at home and in the business.
🎒 School holidays: surviving the summer chaos
Balancing a business during the school holidays is no small feat. Between vanilla frappes at Starbucks and family days out, I somehow managed to keep things ticking over at work too.
The kids are now officially back at school (hallelujah!) and my daughter even helped me write the notes for this round-up. Future podcast host in the making? Watch this space…

💻 New software = new processes = new challenges
We rolled out three new software platforms in August. If you run a business, you’ll know that onboarding new systems means:
Learning curves 🧠
Team training 💬
Process changes ⚙️
And a lot of patience 😅
But every new platform is another step forward in delivering a slicker, more productive client experience, so it was definitely worth it.
🍻 Team social: Monday at the pub (because why not?)
After smashing through one of our busiest months, I treated the team to a well-earned pub lunch on a Monday afternoon. Because nothing says “thank you” quite like a pint and a bowl of chips 💪
Culture is everything in a growing business and moments like this remind me how lucky I am to have such a brilliant crew around me.

🎙️ Podcasting momentum: 3 episodes this month!
In August, I recorded:
2 new episodes of the Making Finance Fun podcast
1 guest appearance on another podcast (announcement coming soon 👀)
There’s something energising about these conversations – they bring out the human side of business, which is exactly what I want our business and brand to be all about.

📍 Client travel across the South West
With Carrie-Ann feeling better, I was finally able to hit the road again and meet some of our newly acquired clients across the South West. Nothing beats real-life conversations when you’re building relationships – especially when you’re working with ambitious businesses on the rise.
⭐ Weston-super-Mare’s highest rated accountants!
Last but not least, a huge milestone for us:
We’re now officially the highest rated accounting firm in Weston-super-Mare on Google! With (at the time of posting this…) 88+ five-star reviews, it’s a testament to the hard work, care and personality we put into everything we do.
If you’ve left us a review – thank you. If you haven’t yet… you know what to do 😉
Final Thoughts
August reminded me just how much business and life blur together, especially when you’re building something meaningful. Whether it’s managing a new tech stack or navigating school holidays, the secret is staying human through it all.
